First-Time Drivers
Currently, Florida Statute 322.095 requires first time driver license
applicants to complete an approved Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education
Course, or complete a Department of Education approved driver education course,
before issuance of a driver license by the Division of Driver Licenses. The
Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education Course, focuses on traffic education,
substance abuse education, DUI laws, and tobacco education. Applicants applying
for their restricted or operator's license must complete this class prior to
receiving their license. D.A.T.E. is an approved Traffic Law and Substance
Abuse Education Course.
The fee is $35.00 for the on-line course. You may register and pay for the
